Semi low loader for sale - used & inspected

What is a semi low loader?

A semi low loader has a lowered loading floor behind the gooseneck – but unlike a full low loader, the floor runs above the axles. This results in a slightly higher loading height, but also greater versatility. The semi low loader handles a wide range of loads: from construction machinery and concrete elements to steel structures and wind turbine components.

At Xiffix, we always carry a wide range of used semi low loaders – from Broshuis, Faymonville and Nooteboom, in all axle configurations and variants.

Technical features

  • Loading height: typically 85–105 cm above road level
  • Load capacity: 30 to 115 tonnes (depending on axle configuration)
  • 3 to 9 axles, fixed or single/double/triple extendable (up to approx. 42 m)
  • Available with self-tracking or hydraulically steered axles
  • Wheel wells and loading ramps as options
  • Width options: 2,550 / 2,750 / 3,000 mm

When to choose a semi low loader?

The semi low loader is the most widely used trailer in heavy and special transport – for good reason. It combines a low load profile with high flexibility. Ideal for excavators, road construction equipment, precast concrete elements, wind turbine components, steel structures and container transport.

Industries: construction, infrastructure, energy (wind), industry, government.

When not to choose one?

If your load is truly extreme in height – such as tower-like structures or machinery with a very high ride profile – a semi low loader won't get the floor low enough. In that case, a full low loader or low loader is the better choice.

FAQ – Semi low loader

What is the difference between self-tracking and hydraulically steered axles?

Self-tracking axles steer passively based on friction – simple and low-maintenance, but cannot be used when reversing. Hydraulically steered axles are actively controlled based on the steering angle of the tractor unit and work when reversing too. Hydraulic steering offers better manoeuvrability but costs more to buy and maintain.

How long can an extendable semi low loader extend?

Depending on the model, a semi low loader can extend single, double or triple to approx. 42 metres. For even longer loads, special configurations with a dolly or trailing axle bogie are available.

Can I buy a Broshuis or Nooteboom semi low loader from Xiffix?

Yes. We trade in trailers from A-brand manufacturers including Broshuis, Doll, Faymonville, Goldhofer and Nooteboom. Our stock changes daily – view current availability at Xiffix.nl or contact us.

What is the benefit of a semi low loader with wheel wells?

Wheel wells lower the floor around the wheels of the load, giving you a lower effective load profile without switching to a full low loader chassis. This is particularly useful with wide tracked machines or vehicles with large wheels.
